Nancy Trosclair

A St. Louis native with a belief that New Orleans was her “soul city”, Nancy Hitchings-Trosclair couldn’t wait to begin her college studies at the University of New Orleans, where she would also meet her “soul mate” Maurice.  After teaching High School in NOLA for 13 years, she made a dramatic career change and was welcomed into the local Destination Management industry. After learning the ropes, Nancy started Destination New Orleans in 2003. Her love of everything New Orleans has been the passion and driving force that has resulted in a fresh and dynamic approach to the local destination management and hospitality industries by combining her creative marketing of New Orleans as a destination with an innovative approach to creative meeting and event planning. Nancy’s achievements and commitment to excellence have received much recognition locally, nationally and internationally.

 

On Valentine’s Day 2017, Nancy’s life was changed forever.   Her husband Maurice experienced a Sudden Cardiac Arrest and was the lucky recipient of a near-perfect chain of survival.  Citizen bystanders acted immediately to perform quality CPR and utilized the AED in the building to shock him several times before EMTs arrived. These amazing women not only saved Maurice’s life, but their actions also made way for his full recovery without any adverse mental or physical damage. 

 

After learning that SCA is the leading cause of death in the US and through further research, education and training, Nancy has realized that New Orleans and its hospitality industry are not adequately prepared for these types of emergencies.  Now a Certified Instructor of CPR, AED and First Aid, Nancy is providing the necessary training to help those in the destination management industry, local restaurants, hotels, music clubs and event venues to be better prepared to save a life.
