ABOUT Heartbeat NOLA

Sudden Cardiac Arrest (SCA) is a leading cause of death in the United States. More than 360,000 cardiac arrests occur outside of a hospital each year. Less than 10 percent of those victims survive. Cardiac arrest can happen to anyone at any time. It is important for companies and organizations to implement a CPR & AED program so employees are prepared to respond to a cardiac arrest emergency.  Placing automated external defibrillators (AEDs) in key locations, and making sure employees are trained in CPR and how to use and AED, can mean the difference between life and death.

New Orleans area musician, Maurice Trosclair knows this better than anyone. Since his SCA (Sudden Cardiac Arrest) on Valentine’s Day 2017, he and his wife Nancy have learned so much and become acutely aware of the need for more AEDs in the New Orleans area and to have more people trained in Citizen CPR and AEDs. It is through Heartbeat NOLA that we will accomplish this. It is an Awareness and Education Campaign as well as a Fund-Raising Campaign.

Through Heartbeat NOLA, Nancy Trosclair will focus on awareness through public speaking opportunities and on education through teaching CPR courses. Our first focus is to reach deep into the NOLA hospitality and events industries. By training those who work in hotels, restaurants, music venues, DMCs, caterers and festival staffers, we can make a huge difference in the number of people ready to save a life in any situation. Together we will save lives.
